Marie is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Auckland, Tamaki Makaurau, Aotearoa New Zealand. Of Māori heritage and raised on a rural farm, her practice draws on indigenous culture, ritual, and a deep connection to the natural world.
Working with materials such as linen, wood, charcoal, graphite, and acrylic paint, Marie creates emotive, layered works that explore human connection and the subtle space between the physical and spiritual worlds. Influenced by dreams and the subconscious, her pieces invite quiet introspection—blending intuitive gesture with deliberate detail.
With a professional background in makeup artistry for television and film, including work for Māori Television, Prime/Sky, and London’s ITV, Marie brings a refined sensitivity to the human face and themes of transformation. This experience continues to inform her visual language, particularly her interest in identity, perception, and ritual.
